2017 Moving Targets Symposium Focuses on Precision Medicine

Moving Targets 2017 will be held on Thursday, August 17 at The Radisson Hotel Los Angeles, Midtown near University Park Campus, USC. The free event includes breakfast, speaker presentations, lunch, poster competition and an evening reception. The keynote speaker is Dr. Jean Claude Zenklusen, who is currently the director of The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), which is currently the largest cancer genomics project.

Noted Scientist Vassilios Papadopoulos to Lead USC School of Pharmacy

Vassilios Papadopoulos, executive director and chief scientific officer of the Research Institute of McGill University Health Centre in Montreal, has been named dean of the USC School of Pharmacy, effective October 1, 2016. The innovative leader has published over 300 papers, holds numerous patents and serves on many national and international advisory committees.

Two doctoral students work on NASA mission

USC School of Pharmacy doctoral students Jillian Romsdahl, 25, and Adriana Blachowicz, 26, were overjoyed to send Aspergillus nidulans to the International Space Station on April 8, 2016. They had worked on the Micro-10 experiment in collaboration with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory for the past two years.

Entrepreneurial PhD Candidate Wins Innovation Award

Jordan Despanie, a fourth-year Pharmaceutical Sciences PhD candidate, won second place in the Innovation Prize competition at the Annual Entrepreneurship Summit hosted by Biotech Connection Los Angeles on June 11, 2016.
